Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The course isn't particularly enjoyable, its quite boring actually. The professor is nice and always willing to help though most of the work is done outside of class. The course is not difficult it does require a lot of group work which can be a problem for some especially because you are not allowed to pick your group.

    Course highlights:

The course covers the job of health professionals. Mostly you are required to complete research on pima county identifying its health factors, and design a intervention program for an at risk population. For example, if through your research you find that there is high rates of diabetes in American Indians in the county, than you are tasked to design a program that attempts to resolve that issue

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It is a major required course for cph so if you have to take it there are a few things you should be cognizant of before the class starts. First, the final is incredibly easy everything is in the study guide and if you go to the TA lead review you should easily receive and A. Secondly, the first project, the program plan is graded very difficulty. My group visited the prof and the TA's several times to have our program looked at before it was turned in. Both parties told us how well we had done only to turn around and receive a poor grade. Most groups received poor grades on this assignment. To counter balance this there is a lot of extra credit offered, do all of it. Additionally, do the weekly journals. If you can manage to do these things you should receive an A in the class

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is required to take, but I highly recommend planning on taking this class with an easier load of classes. It is time demanding and requires extensive amounts of groupwork.

    Course highlights:

Dr. Parker is very experienced and offers knowledge for her students who are striving to become public health professionals.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Communicate as much as possible with your group for the main projects, do all the application opportunities, read the text book and do all the extra credit.
