    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is one of the most challenging courses I have ever taken, and I am only half of a semester in. It is difficult because it forces you to think a certain way and relearn what you thought you knew. This new perspective enables you to understand everything in a deeper, more critical way. This class is eye opening, is a fantastic challenge, and is extremely engaging. Dr. Pollard is fun, upbeat, and passionate about teaching; he really cares about every individual.

    Course highlights:

I am learning how to think about chemistry in a different way, and considering that chemistry is the foundation of life I have a different perspective on how everything in the natural world works. I really like the way the course is geared away from memorization and regurgitation of formulas and towards total comprehension and understanding.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes. Read the chapters. Prioritize this course. Go to office hours. Study in groups, make study guides together as the semester goes on. There are so many opportunities and people- preceptors and TA's- that are dying to help you and see you succeed. I highly suggest teaching people that need help or practice teaching to an empty room, because if you can teach it, you know it well.
