    Course Overview:

    You are required to take this course as a first year student in Newhouse.

    Course highlights:

    This course will cover the different areas of communications without going too in depth.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Many of the exam questions were pulled straight from definitions in the textbook, so be sure to study the vocabulary in the chapters before exams.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

    COM 107 varies heavily by professor, so this is only relevant if you get Professor Osborne. If you do, consider yourself lucky. She makes the required material into something special.

    Course highlights:

    COM 107 is based around learning about each major that Newhouse offers. It's a lot of information that's necessary as a base for any communications degree, especially at such a prestigious school.

    Advice for students:

    Do the readings and go to office hours. She's interested in you and she's much warmer than she seems initially.

    Course Overview:

    This course is discusses the preliminary steps to a world of communication. Throughout the course, you learn different types of media and major conglomerates that control messages. Professor Rubin is very engaging and makes the course fun to learn.

    Course highlights:

    The highlights of this course were guest speakers such as the Executive Vice President of Edelman. I learned how to write transparent messages and different strategies to best position messages in the public.

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    You need to take notes every class and really engage in the conversation. A significant portion of your grade is participation.
