    Course Overview:

    I would highly recommend taking this course with Dr. McArthur because her teaching style helps you learn the many facets of Nutrition. Her lectures are not powerpoint based, so it forces you to listen carefully, be attentive, and take good notes. Her lectures are also heavily detailed so you learn so much just by coming to class. Reading the book only further solidifies your learning experience from class, not the opposite.

    Course highlights:

    The major highlight of this course is that it offers you a significant amount of information on how to improve your lifestyle eating habits. You can take what you learn each day and practically apply it to something most people do at least 3 times a day, eat. I learned everything from what consists of the Macro- and Micro- Nutrients, to detailed analysis of chemical and mechanical digestion of foods.

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    To succeed in this course, go to class and do not miss class unless you have to. Listen intently and take good notes, as this not only helps your listening skills but also helps your mind grasp the information being provided to you. Additionally, outside of class read over your notes frequently and remember any details or concepts that you weren't able to write down. Read the book each week, especially the supplemental chapters on Vitamins and Minerals.

    Course Overview:

    I would recommend this course, but definitely not as a night class. I made the mistake of taking this class from 5:30pm to 8:30pm every Monday. The class is tough, but taking it at night made it nearly impossible.

    Course highlights:

    The class itself was okay at best. The biggest thing I learned is not to take nutrition as a night class, and to avoid night classes if possible.

    Advice for students:

    Nutrition is a boring topic for a lot of people. Just power through it and do the work and you will be okay. You will only get out of it as much as you put into it.

    Course Overview:

    I would recommend this class because the material is fairly simple to learn. The professor is good at relating the material to real life and to the lifestyles of the class. He explains things really well and is always willing to help and answer questions.

    Course highlights:

    My favorite section was the section on the Macro and Micro Minerals/ vitamins because I can apply those to how I'm eating and make sure I am getting enough of each vitamin or mineral to keep my body running the way it needs to especially with my workout routine.

    Advice for students:

    In this class my recommendation for studying is looking over your notes and going through the powerpoints that Dr. Root puts up. Make sure you keep up with the project that he gives you because it's simple and is a grade booster but is easy to forget about.
