Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend PSY 150 because it is an interactive course that explores the mind, human behavior, and social interactions of humans. If you enjoy learning about the behavior of humans, and why we do the things we do, this is the perfect course to enroll in! Craven Community College has a great support system, and is by your side if there is any difficulties with completing a course.

    Course highlights:

I enjoyed the daily discussions and the weekly assignments that were required. I completed PSY 150 online, and it was an easy going learning environment. There is a lot of information that you must learn on your own -which is expected in a college level course- but overall the information was not difficult to understand. There are a lot of theories that I was unaware of that shape a human being, so it was very interesting to learn about them.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Whether you consider taking PSY 150 online or in class, you must stay dedicated to the weekly reading. Instructors base their exams off of direct information from the textbook, so it is very beneficial to read when asked to. It is a lot of information to take in sometimes, and because of this some students give up through the semester. I would advice to keep a positive mindset the whole course, and break the weekly reading in to chunks, instead of waiting to the last minute to read all of the chapters assigned for the week.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend psychology because it give you a basic understanding of how most people think and what common psychoses are. I would recommend this course because it was fun and the teacher allowed plenty of time to study and ask questions, he really wanted to make sure you understood the material. If you are going into the healthcare field or really any field it is a good idea to have a general concept of why people act the way they do, and how to handle the situations if one does occur.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were how culture, biological development and family problems can influence a persons social behavior. I learned that depending on the culture of the individual the person can be naturally more submissive for example in Thai land and other countries in the east, women are to be seen and not heard. They are to complete all chores and to bear children while it is ok to be beaten. While here in america that is unacceptable, but the class showed that sometimes a person can loose it, forget where they are due to the pain and aggressive behavior and "snap" on the one they call husband. We also discussed in depth on topics such as bipolarism, schizophrenia, depression and multiple personality disorders. All of which I found interesting, but I found multiple personalities more so, we discussed the ability of an individual to create characters that could handle the abuse or make due of certain situations and take over the hosts body until the danger is over. The disorder is still very unknown but is very interesting.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You really need to read the chapters, take your own notes and really pay attention during lecture. I found that taking notes with different colored pens worked really well as well as acquiring a recorder to tape lectures so you can go back and listen to the lectures seeing as how my professor spoke quickly and rarely repeated himself.
