Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to any student taking CHEM1160 because Dr. Bell does everything in her power to help you succeed. She provides numerous resources, and devotes many office hours to helping you get through the course.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of the course revolved around my personal success, and the success that I could provide to my teammates. In the class we worked in groups to solve problems so, I really learned how to learn through group discussion.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The best advice is to read the book and use as many resources as you can. Even if you think that one teaching method does not work as well for you, try it anyway because you can still probably get some detail of information from it.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

For chemistry and biology majors I would highly recommend this course. The class is challenging but Dr. Collins is always willing to help. I went to him everyday after class to work on the assigned homework and study for the tests and he was extremely helpful. He never made anyone feel dumb for asking a “easy” question.

    Course highlights:

Chemistry 1160 is a continuation of chemistry 1150. We learned about solutions, kinetics, equilibrium, acid-base theory, thermodynamics, and electrochemistry and the course introduces organic, nuclear, and coordination chemistry. Even thought how to study take notes was not on the syllabus I still learned a new way of studying that I never had to use before for the class along with how to take better notes.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

This is the type of class where the amount of work you put in will be reflected in the grade you get. The best advice that I can give is go to Dr. Collins and ask him question, the effort does not go unnoticed in his eyes. Along with going to his office hours, do the homework, go to class because he has clicker quizzes every day, and lastly STUDY for the test. The tests are not easy you have to know the information forward and back. In the end though you will know all of the information that is needed to move on to the next chemistry class.
