    It is necessary for undergraduates to gain an understanding of writing in the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities disciplines. English 112 teaches students to identify, analyze and compose in the disciplines.

    Course Overview:

    ENG 112 introduces students to the different academic writing disciplines and teaches them how to effectively communicate well-thought out responses to literature works by means of analyzing, research, and synthesis.

    Course highlights:

    I learned how to transfer my thoughts across a myriad of academic writing disciplines in a concise and appropriate manner. While MLA may be the standard for most English classes, understanding the intricacies of other writing styles allows one to effectively communicate and debate a variety of topics in an appropriate manner.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

    Don't be afraid to reach out for guidance if there is an issue troubling you. Analyzing literature can be tricky at times, and in the case of confusion or fear of misunderstanding, it is both recommended and highly conducive to success to seek help, even if it is just clarification.

    This course was designed to show you how to write in the different disciplines.

    Course highlights:

    It allowed me to understand how to write a specific way for a specific audience. I didn't realize that people from different backgrounds understand written literature in different ways. They way things are written and presented give a different understand to individuals.

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

    Research the different disciplines and bounce it off of what you are writing to ensure you are on track.
