Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is truly full of priceless information for aspiring soil scientists or those who wish to learn more about soil. Dr. Crouse is an amazing professor that really wants his students to both succeed and develop a full understanding of the subject. It is obvious that he is passionate about what he teaches and enjoys spreading his knowledge with those eager to learn.

    Course highlights:

This course covers everything from the basic concepts of soil to more advanced topics such as soil chemistry. Students are taught to differentiate the different soil horizons, calculations for lime requirements and gravemetric measurements, different tools used in the field, and a thorough understanding of different soil types.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It is imperative to complete the reading and listen to the lectures. Don't be afraid to ask questions and know your calculations! Really understanding foundations taught in the beginning is a must as they will be used throughout the course.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you are interested in anything that deals with nature--Natural resources, stormwater management, landscape design/architecture, horticulture-- then I strongly recommend it.

    Course highlights:

I liked the hands-on nature of this course. Soil is all around us, and so much of what we do depends on soil. I learned about soil ecology, soil dating, the naming and orders of soil, soil chemistry, plant nutrients and soil water.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the book and do the homework, it helps alot. Beyond that, let the teacher know of anything difficult that comes up in your life. He is very understanding and willing to help.
