    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course because it helped me with writing for different disciplines. As a science major, I didn't think this class would help me at all. It really broadened how I write and now I can write in a variety of ways. I recommend taking this course with Ben because he was definitely my favorite professor that I've had at UNC.

    Course highlights:

I gained more confidence in my writing. We had to work in workshop groups and I was able to develop a backbone to defend my work. I learned that criticism of my work is sometimes a good thing.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Definitely take the course seriously. Since it is required some people might blow it off because they don't really want to take it, however, this class teaches a lot about writing in different ways. It is very helpful.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class prepared me so well for applying for jobs in the future and interacting with other business people.

    Course highlights:

The first unit has us picking a job or internship to apply for and then we create a resume and cover letter. In the next unit we learn how to write, positive, negative, and persuasive informational messages, like recall notices and letters to Chancellor Folt. The final unit is our Shark Tank presentations where we create a product and business plan to present to judges.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't feel like you need to be majoring in business to be taking English 105i Business. I am a CS major and this class still helped me so much and prepared me to apply to jobs that have to do with my major.
