    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Genetics is an important subject no matter what career someone is pursuing.

    Course highlights:

The engagement of the class and learning about the central dogma,

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Shemer is a great professor. He presents the material in an easy to understand way and clearly distinguishes what we need to learn versus what we don't. His test questions are always easy to understand and apply some application, but the course material is quick to learn if you are ready to work hard.

    Course highlights:

From Dr. Shemer, we learned molecular biology, some more detailed genetics, and cancer biology. The class was taught in conjunction with Dr. Steinwand, who taught mostly classical genetics.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with the readings and guided reading questions, even when they are not due. Take a lot of notes in class and review them after class to make sure you understand what's going on. It's easy to fall behind if you are not sure about something.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you like biology and are remotely interesting in genetics and need this for pre-health related field or to graduate TAKE THIS CLASS! It definitely required a lot of work, but was so interesting and so applicable. Hogan gives great outlines and study materials to help you do your best as long as you are willing to put the work in.

    Course highlights:

Learned a ton about genetics and how they affect people and family disorders. A lot of pedigrees in the beginning but the second half is all about specifics of translation, transcription, etc.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Review a little bit every day! Stay on task with the Mastering Genetics. Do the outlines, and the readings. Study at least 4 days before an exam.
