    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would only take this course with this specific professor if you must for your major. Cao is a great professor, you learn so much in his class, however his test are extremely difficult. The average for all of his test ranges around the 60-70. Don't take if you're not willing to put in a lot of extra study time.

    Course highlights:

We covered the major topics of biology, ecology, evolution, and things in between. We went very in depth about human and plant reproduction. A heads up is that he usually relates the concepts back to bugs, because he studied bugs in college and those specific examples often show up on his test or exams. You also must do 6 hours of community service that relates to environmental conservation sometime throughout the semester, if you fail to, your grade automatically goes down by 10 points.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You have to go into his class with a strong work ethic if you want a good grade, you can't slack off, and try no to miss any classes. Also, while he is a tough grader, he is a friendly person and happy to give feedback and advice if you make an effort to ask.

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course from Dr. Cao if you like to be mentally challenged. Every one says he is hard,

    Course highlights:

You will learn how to think more conceptually and work harder than usual. It's a skill that will come in handy for future classes.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read Chapters before class. It would be best to take notes while reading. Match the notes with his online notes while doing it. Go to SI Sessions if you don't understand. I hear that if Cao knows you as a person (going to office hours), he might be a little more lenient on your short answers on the test.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to an biology major because it will definitely prepare for the later course that follows.

    Course highlights:

The service learning project was the highlight of this course where we had to achieve 6 hours of community service within the semester.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would study at least 6 a week for the class, go to the tutoring sessions and make sure you stay on up on the reading because it is definitely important for succeeding in the class.
