Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend taking this course for all UNCW students because the professor, Dr. David Houpt has a genius way of teaching a subject that our generation has nonchalant feelings towards. I was never one to be interested in the subject of History and after taking his course, I can confidently say that it is my favorite one that I have taken at UNCW. Dr. Houpt makes history interesting which encourages me to learn more and do well in mastering the subject.

    Course highlights:

I learned many things about the Native Americans, the colonization of the European settlers in Early America, British rule, and the relationships that they operated in. Before I took this course, I knew the surface level of American History and now I know the details of it all. I have learned the motives and intentions of both the British and the settlers rather than just who they were as people. The highlights of this course is that Dr. Houpt makes each lecture interesting and encourages students to engage in learning with him.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Read all the primary sources. The only book you really need is the "Voices of Freedom" book (primary sources). The other book is irrelevant. Take notes! If you miss a day, get them from a friend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if you're interested in history due to the fact that Dr. La Vere really knows what he's talking about, and makes sure that you learn the material!

    Course highlights:

I loved this course because the professor was easy to communicate with (I took it online) and the content was fun to learn.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you take this course with Dr. La Vere, be sure to do ALL of your work and try your hardest. He tends to be a tough grader.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Hart was a great professor, and the course was rather easy if you went to lecture and took notes.

The course was over the history of the United States up to 1865. We learned about important events that shaped our early nation.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You must attend lecture and take well-written notes.
