    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I loved this class because Dr. Coon allowed us to choose what we wanted to learn about. We discussed media channels and their history and hot topics related to mass media. Dr. Coon gave us a lot of freedom to write about anything we discussed in class. We even helped in writing short answer questions for the tests.

    Course highlights:

From taking this course I have a better understanding of how things end up in the mass media and the different forms of communication. I enjoyed learning about social media, movies, and celebrities in the mass media. One interesting thing we learned about was how Disney princess changed over time with the changing of social norms. For example, Cinderella and Snow White relied on men to make their lives happy and complete, while Merida, Elsa, and Anna found happiness on their own. Disney princesses influence the behavior of little girls and it will be interesting to see how girls will react to princesses independent nature.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely recommend this course to students and would advise that they take good notes and ask questions. Dr. Coon likes in class discussions. Also, write about what interests you and will help you in your future.
