Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is a great way to build a solid foundation in biology. If you can master this material, you will do great in the upper level courses. After this course, everything builds and it is important to know the basics in order to understand the specifics.

    Course highlights:

I learned to basics of what I would be studying for the remainder of my undergraduate degree. Topics covered include cells and cell organelles, viruses and diseases, PCR, Enzyme activity, Sodium Potassium Pump and chemical make up of cells, and DNA basics.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read the chapters more than once and take active notes both while reading and in class. If your professor allows you access to power points, save them and use them to study for exams and as reference for future classes. Pay attention to details

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is very helpful for any Science major not just Pre-med. If gives you an understanding or introduction to how Biology has adapted overtime. I loved the lab portion of this course for it was amazing and so many learning opportunities were offered.

    Course highlights:

I really enjoyed this course! It was very interesting! I learned so much about cells and their structure as well as genetics and cell to cell communication. The best lab conducted during this portion of the course was the DNA extraction from fruits and vegetables.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

For success during this class it is vital that one read over the introductions or backgrounds for the labs that are conducted in order to get an understanding of the subject and what it is that you are to be observing. I recommend that one print out the lab guides and use them as study guides for the exams. Also it is crucial and important that all assignments be turned in on time.
