    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I personally did not like Professor Haywood. She read off of the lecture slides and had a sassy attitude that was more often than not mean and sometimes degrading. She also had a no technology policy in her class, so even if you learn better by following along on your ipad or taking digital notes, you're out of luck. This policy was very in line with her attitude I think. She knows best, and the students just have to do things her way.

    Course highlights:

We went more in depth. There was a lot of material that I learned before (in AP bio or otherwise), but there were just more details and explanations.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class if you can learn anything from it, but if you just find yourself falling asleep or spacing out, don't waste your time going to lectures. Spend the time going through the lecture slides on your own (on your forbidden electronic device) and actually learning something.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Unfortunately, people taking this course are the ones who are required to, so the best you can do is try to make it through. Disregarding the sheer volume of highly-detailed content, the lectures were slow, and entirely unnecessary, the tests were overly complex and poorl reflected the material outlined as being potential exam material, and the professor immediately took the antagonistic approach to her students.

    Course highlights:

The best part of the course was that the information itself was interesting, if not presented in the most palatable way.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes in the way that best helps you remember and CONSTANTLY review them. Doing the Learning Targets is nearly always a waste of time because the exam material rarely reflected the content, and there are so many that you could spend all your study time on just those. Rather, do the Mastering Biology problems over and over--she sometimes copies them onto the exmas--and do questions from the textbook.
