    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The course is useful, if somewhat difficult, if you have any interest in applying statistics to the business world.

    Course highlights:

I found the highlight to be learning how to use statistics to determine the trends and behavior in large populations and sample sizes, as well as how to make use of data in a small sample.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Study. Get a tutor if you have any inkling that you are not getting the material. Other students tend to be very helpful during in-class exercises. Join a study group for homework and tests.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

OSM 202 has a reputation for being a touch course, but in my opinion that couldn't be further from the truth. Sure, the material isn't easy, but it also isn't very challenging. I tested out of the pre-requisite for this course, so I hadn;t taken any statistics since my junior year of high school (AP Statistics). I was worried since it's been 2 years since I've taken a stats course, but Dr. Polomsky was dedicated to ensuring that all his students understood the material. He covered all the material extensively, and was more than willing to answer any question students had. If you're required to take this course, I highly recommend taking it with Dr. Polomsky.

    Course highlights:

The course covered statistical testing, including chi-square, regression, and standard hypothesis testing. It's only a 200 level course, so there isn't an overwhelming amount of material to cover. The class also relied heavily on Excel and the megastat extension. Homework was done in Connect, and was ok for the most part.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

It isn't the hardest class you'll ever take, but it also isn't the easiest. Come to class prepared to take notes and if you find your self struggling, Dr. Polomsky truly cares about seeing all his students succeed, so don't be afraid to ask him for help.
