    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was challenging and fast paced, but still very informative. Instructor is skilled at balancing reading, writing, and oral skills. Instructor also uses a random draw system for students to answer questions so one student is not always answering everything. For anyone interested in Japanese, this course and specifically this instructor are highly recommended.

    Course highlights:

In this course you will learn the two basic alphabets of Japanese, as well as an introduction to characters called kanji, which are based off Chinese characters and are regularly utilized in Japanese written communication. You will learn a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures and you will extensively write and speak with these in order to familiarize with them as much as possible.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This is a course that must be taken very seriously, and should only be taken if there is a true desire to learn Japanese. This course is so fast paced and difficult that it will quickly leave behind students who don't keep on top of the coursework.
