    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class if you are trying to just get it done. I needed it done fast and did the 8 week class. It's very time consuming and stressful. But if you stick through it and do every assignment you can do it.

    Course highlights:

I learned the basics of microbiology. The whole first chapter is chemistry. And then each chapter goes into a little more depth.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do the assignments. Study the quizzes and review. A majority of the tests questions are from those or the concepts in the quiz.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Summer classes are very challenging to even the best students. They challenge you to become a better student and build better study habits. You can learn a lot about not only the material you are studying but the type of student you are as well. I would recommend any summer class to students who are very invested in their education and serious about the career they are trying to pursue. For those students who are taking classes to pass the time and are not concerned about the grades they're receiving I would not recommend a summer class because it is something you truly need to be dedicated to in order to complete the course successfully.

    Course highlights:

I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the various types of bacteria and viruses as well as how they are transmitted. One of the most interesting to me was learning about Toxoplasma Gondii and how it can be transmitted through the placenta. Prior to this class I was told pregnant women should not handle litter boxes but never understood why and after learning why it was quite frightening to know the possible outcomes. I also enjoyed being able to perform tests that are done in critical settings such as the Kirby Bauer test to test for sensitivity of antibiotics to diseases.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Ask your teacher what their expectations are for the class. Find a way to study based off their expectations whether that be memorization or application. Study ahead so you can ask questions as the topic is being covered. It is easy to get behind in this class if you do not prioritize your time. This class is typically a requirement for those going into the medical field and is relevant to those profession so this class is very important to understand.
