    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

A learning style like never before. You are pushed as much as you would be in the real world, and you are critiqued like you've never been before. All extremely valuable in my experience as a designer.

    Course highlights:

Work ethic and time management as well as being confident in your work and sticking up for yourself.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Stay on top of things and keep producing work. Show progress. Don't burn yourself out and stay excited.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Introduction to Visual communication design is a rigorous course designed to push the student to his or her limits in creativity, and ability to comprehend and satisfy the course. Intro to VCD requires dedication, and can be an extremely rewarding experience.

    Course highlights:

In addition to the curricular knowledge I received, I also learned some valuable life lessons. Through harsh but constructive critiques in our design work, I learned that criticism is a tool to better oneself and their work. I also learned that good work takes not just ability and talent, but also perseverance, as your instructors will push you to improve the work right until the deadline. While the knowledge I gained was invaluable, I also learned things outside the classroom. The connections I made with other students, mentors, and advisors have been and always will be a treasured resource.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Many students enter this course with the impression that it is an easy art major. The truth is, VCD is tough on hard work, discipline, and to a point, following instructions. The best way to succeed is to stay enthusiastic and devoted.
