    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because you learn the basic skills you will need to be successful in the industry. It is a challenging course but when you finish it, you will have already learned so much valuable information and be one step closer to getting where you want to be in your career.

    Course highlights:

This class is definitely challenging. The biggest thing I learned was how to refine my work. Sloppy work of any kind will not be tolerated. You learn everything from the color wheel and how to properly create a trend board to making an original garment from scratch.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

When it comes to projects, do not just do the bare minimum and think that will be enough. It is important to go above and beyond. Make sure your lines are straight, there is no glue peeking out anywhere, and your paint chips are opaque and even. On trend boards, understand your theme and do not drift away from it. Make sure everything is cohesive and everything is as neat as possible.

The best part of this course was getting to design my own garment at the end of the semester.

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Get your work done early and manage your time wisely.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It may not be the most fun class, but it is important information that is necessary if you want a job in the fashion industry at all.

    Course highlights:

The final project was definitely the most fun. Being forced to use a specific type of clothing item from thrift shops and use those garments to create something new and exciting is a fun challenge. It makes you think differently, and ultimately, it was a to of fun.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't procrastinate, and don't get too overwhelmed. The projects may seem like a lot of work at first, but it really isn't that bad. Just manage your time well, and you'll be fine.
