    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Well this class is required for most freshmen coming in.

    Course highlights:

There were a few labs that were actually interesting and enjoyable. By the end of the semester the labs only take about 45 to an hour so you are usually getting out of class early if you work efficiently.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You should follow the directions very carefully and not wait to the last minute to do your lab reports. They take a long time and most of the time require a lot of critical thinking. Don't show up to lab without the pre-lab done or without any materials because THEY WILL kick you out and give you a zero for that lab. If you turn anything in a minute late they will also give you a zero so be timely.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class in no way correlates to the curriculum you are learning at the time in the 1035 class and is usually a waste of time. The lab reports are usually 10+ pages long and are full of time wasting nonsense that will not further your knowledge of Chemistry.

    Course highlights:

The lab reports are hell. Make sure to do them before the night of.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the lab reports well in advance of your class time and date. Some take about 8 hours to do.

    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Deck was an exceptional teacher. He's one of those professors who is there because he want to help the students truly understand the material.

    Course highlights:

This course was a great introduction to general chemistry lab-work at Virginia Tech. It really helped me grasp the concepts in-depth.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The labs are intensive, but they are also very informative to the subject matter, and they correspond to the lecture quite well.
