Not too easy. Not too difficult.
Dr. Falkinham is incredibly knowledgeable about genetics but does not do a great job of teaching the material. The class is not always necessary because he sometimes can be very tangential which can derail the student's train of thought. His previous test can all be found on koofers and his homework is fairly simple. His class was extremely interesting and there were certain subjects which he taught so well that I was excited to go to class for, but for the most part, the class was not as useful as it could have been. Nevertheless, it was still a very good course and I would highly recommend it.
The highlights from this class were the homework and the tests. If you prepared by looking at his previous test and homework from the past years, you usually could get a really good grade. I learned a lot about genetic variation and recombination. Those were very good lessons and were conveyed so much better than freshman biology.

Advice for students:
The course is offered at 8am in the morning so make sure you have a good sleep schedule because it can be very hard to wake up for some of these classes, especially in the winter.
