    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This class is mandatory for many majors or as a pre-req fro med or vet school. Keep on top of your studies and develop study groups. Also Dr. Berg is the best professor out their and by far my favorite at Tech. He turned a weed out class taught at 9am into something I looked forward to waking up for. Go to office hours and review sessions. If Berg knows your name because he sees you a lot outside of class, then you are bound to succeed.

    Course highlights:

Organic was my favorite class at Virginia Tech, soley for Dr. Berg, who taught it. I learned everything I needed to. His tests were challenging but extremely fair.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY and don't be afraid to seek help.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Bump is very well put together during the winter term, and it is much more problem based which is what you need to know for the tests.

    Course highlights:

Lots of one on one feedback, plenty of practice problems with answers, and long hours of studying organic chemistry. I learned all the essentials for organic chemistry.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do all the practice problems you can ad stay in between the classes during the week. That's when she holds her office hours which are very helpful.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It will teach you to work hard. It will challenge you in ways that you didn't expect, but the reward of actually understanding it makes every long night beyond worth it. The professor makes the coursework interesting, and you want to understand it. However, it will be a big dedication, don't take it along with other very difficult classes if you will not have the time to do the work involved. It will be hard, but it is nowhere near impossible. Go to office hours. Read the textbook, you will be fine.

    Course highlights:

The first month is easy and covers basics of the material, provides a great foundation for the rest of the course. The professor is great!

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to office hours, read the textbook, do all the practice problems, go to review sessions, don't wait until the last minute to do anything, ask any questions you have never be afraid of sounding less smart than others, if you don't understand, ask anyway.
