Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I primarily registered for this course because it fulfilled a requirement towards my degree. As a dedicated and focused music major I didn't have an extensive interest in subjects unrelated to music, but after taking this class with John Boyer my perspective changed! The course I took was completely online however I felt completely involved thanks to his system and class procedures. My views on world politics, and other relevant and timely issues were pushed and changed constantly. Easily one of my most enjoyable classes I've taken at Virginia Tech.

    Course highlights:

One highlight of the course, while unrelated to the actual academics, was the level of personality and passion John Boyer brought to his online class lectures, while also offering extremely important and valuable levels of content.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

As long as you follow the class deadlines, do the readings, and pay attention, you will be successful. Boyer has an excellent system that sets all of his students up for success. His grading is based on a point system, and he offers more than enough opportunities to rack up points.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

It is definitely a good course to boost GPA. Just make sure you stay on top of assignments, as it is a point based course.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about various regions of the world and how they all interact with each other.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

If you can work with a group, definitely do it. Hosting movie nights helps everyone in the class.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I know it sounds stupid to say but READ THE TEXTBOOK. Boyer is probably going to end up being one of my favorite teachers and I've only had him for 5 weeks. He's that amazing. However you have to stay on top of your online quizzes or else the point opportunities will slip right on by and before you know it you're behind. So make sure that you DO THE READING.

    Course highlights:

The lectures. I swear Boyer could make any subject an interesting one just because of how lively and interactive he makes his videos.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

That there is a LOT of reading and a LOT of note taking but the overall course is really interesting and not boring.
