    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The teacher is alright, but does bring up good ideas about branding yourself and setting you unique from others. Always a step ahead of the pack.

    Course highlights:

Definitely working on a portfolio from very early on, along with resumes, and understanding some business aspects in the field.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Always work really hard, with effort, don't give up, and don't take bad critique but rather see it as good constructive criticism to make your new work better.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

He is a great guy with a great personality and great attitude. He always comes to class ready to work and to help improve our designs. Although he will be very truthful and critical, remember design is all opinionated.

    Course highlights:

The best highlight of my first semester at Virginia Tech was taking a studio picture. Greg really wants us to apply outside knowledge to the studio. The discussions we have everyday continues to grow interesting as the year progresses with knowledge he opts us to find through outside research. Do not underestimate the amount of time you are going to take on a project... it will take at least twice as much time as you thought. Designs change, and so will you, and that's okay. We are only in our first year at a real design school trying to identify our type of style.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Get to know the people in your studio, next to your studio, and everywhere in the studio, you will be needing those. Do not be afraid to ask for help, everyone struggles and feels your pain and everyone wants to help one and another. It's a tough a course for a reason and it is called a profession after all, not a job nor a career.
