Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend because his lectures are so intriguing and he is quite humorous. It makes the class a lot more interesting. Plus, he uses great examples.

    Course highlights:

I definitely had trouble in the beginning but reading about Plato helped me learn a lot. This class taught me a lot about life lessons and so on. It provided me with good information that would help me with my daily life and I appreciated that.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class, take good notes. Read the readings, take notes. Do every single assignment and try to score high on the quizzes. Also, for discussion papers, he wants you to use words from the book and from the lecture. Incorporate the two and really try to understand the philosophical terms and theories. You should be fine if you do this. He is a tough grader but he is an understanding professor as well.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I'd recommend this course to any one who is even a little curious about ethics. I had no idea there was so much information and ideas surrounding the topic of ethics. I found this course to be difficult but very satisfying when I began to understand the information and have my views challenged.

    Course highlights:

For me learning about all the different moral and ethical theories was the biggest highlight. I've never had my morals really challenged before and to have a very clear and thorough system or theory completely challenge and break my morals down.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read everything that Matteson gives you. All the material has the chance of being on the test. You don't want to take a test and be asked to respond to a question regarding a moral theory you've never even heard of before. You will not be highly successful unless you read all of the material.
