Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This class prepared me to be a teacher. If I did not take this class, I do know if I would understand that subjects should not be isolated. Subjects should be intertwined to make them more meaningful. She showed me how to make reading fun. Most of all, she taught me how to teach reading. Now as a kindergarten teacher, I have taken what Dr. Prior taught me and been able to use these approaches to teach my 5 years old how to read.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of the course was taking a single book and having to create 20 lessons with it. I took an Amelia Bedelia book and I was amazing all the objectives I was able of hitting on in multiple subject areas. Also, learning the beginning steps on how to help an emergent reader read was very useful because prior to this class I did not understand the process of how a child evolves into a reader.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared to learn. Make sure you have a notebook ready because this will be one of your most valuable classes to prepare for your career as an elementary teacher.
