    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

This course is a great overview to fiction and nonfiction. The professor provides ample opportunities to explore your creative side and grading is very generous. If you are looking for an "easy" course to satisfy a requirement, this may be the course for you. There is a decent amount of work involved, but it is hands down the most fun course I've taken at Ohio University.

    Course highlights:

The course requires a certain amount of writing, and there are three categories: short story, personal essay, and essay based on readings done in class. There are 11 writings due total, which might seem like a lot, but it is actually very helpful for the coursework. The writings make up part of your overall grade, but they don't have to be a certain length and the teacher is very generous with grading (read: if you do the work, most likely you will get an "A") The professor also likes to give little gifts to the students. When I took the class, it was at 8:30am, but the professor brought breakfast (donuts, muffins, etc.) to class to help wake us up and start the day off right. She cares about the students and responds quickly to emails.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best advice I can give is this: do the work when it is assigned. The professor doesn't believe in the grading system, so as long as you do the work on time, you will more than likely get an "A." If you don't do the work on time, she will assign extra work for the whole class.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The professor is phenomenal and very understanding of any situation a student might have. Class is very relaxed with very little homework and awesome discussions in class daily. I also really enjoyed the book selection for the course.

    Course highlights:

Discussions, being able to connect the readings to current life and issues. I learned how to pay more attention to character development.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Read, Read, Read and do the homework assignments or you'll be clueless in class. Also, Halliday is very fond of pop quizzes so for goodness sake just read the book.

    Hours per week:
