    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

If you are looking to be a journalist and you were blessed enough to get into the Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, this class is not optional. People will tell you how hard the tests are and the professor is, and they're not lying. However, just because they are telling the truth does not mean they are framing this course in the correct light. This course is tough, it is a weed out class. Your professor will not go easy on you and that is because of one reason: he is preparing you.

    Course highlights:

When you walk away from this course, you will be a more well rounded journalist. You will learn how to write news, how to write news well and how to be a good news writer. You will learn that all of these things are different in their own right. You will learn compassion, credibility and respect for this field. When it is all said and done, if you took advantage of this course, you will be that much closer to being a journalist.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You must go into this course with the mindset that it will make you the journalist that you need to be in order to thrive in this field. If you keep that in mind, this class is worth every grueling hour. Inspire of all the hard work and frustration you're bound to endure, don't forget why you want to go into this field.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I learned A LOT in this class. Beware: it's probably the toughest and most intense class you'll take in a given semester, but it's worth what you put in.

    Course highlights:

I learned everything, so it seems. Editing, writing strong paragraphs, being accurate with my quotes and info, etc. You'll learn everything you need to know about news writing.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do what you're told and what's expected of you. Show up to class on time and put forth your best effort. Do that and you should be fine.
