    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Jorgensen is a good teacher but he expects a lot of you. He expects you to have read through most of the notes before that days lecture and rarely stops to go into further depth on a certain subject. This is a rough course to take in your first semester but its a good "wake up call" class" if you didnt study for exams in high school be prepared too.

    Course highlights:

Aside from the difficult teaching style of my professor the class was very interesting in its subject matter. This course will cover everything from basic periodic table properties and organization to molecular orbital theory and green house gasses.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study. A lot. The books are life savers. They have everything from practice problems to tests and overviews of the topics. I would also recommend purchasing the study guide for the final exam (provided by the American Chemical Society). It saved my grade for sure.

    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course provides a challenge, but it will help provide a general understanding of chemistry.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was the recitation class which helped clarify what was taught in the lecture. I learned a variety of subjects of general chemistry from Lewis Structures to chemical bonds.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise studying for the tests and when you think you have studied enough study even more. Do all of your homework and your grade will be fine as long as you put forth effort.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I took this course because it is a requirement for a Biology major. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good course.

    Course highlights:

We learned many aspects of General Chemistry, including stoichiometry, electron configuration, nuclear chemistry, thermodynamics, and some physical chemistry,

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Just make sure to keep up with the homework so you can easily revise the concepts introduced in class. Solving previous exams is really useful because professors stick to the same format and use similar types of questions so that really helps you out.
