    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I only give this 4 stars because I despised OChem, but Professor Benin is as good as they come! This dude knows his stuff and wants everyone else to understand it, too. He was the second professor I took 313 with and he definitely made me feel like I had a good base going into 314. Be prepared to work your butt off though!

    Course highlights:

I learned how to apply critical thinking to all ochem problems, especially the mechanisms, and to be practicing constantly. He has very high expectations but it's all for the students' good.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to the TA hours for sure, it's great time to ask questions to fellow students and you're forced to practice.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course if it was taught by a different. This is a very tough course as expected but the test were always way harder than everything we did in class. We also received no feedback on our test so we had to teach ourselves all of the material we did not know.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about naming organic molecules and drawing them from there name. There was also a lot of stereochemistry, regiochemistry, and alkene and alkyne reactions.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The best advice I can give is to look up all of the professors before you schedule for them. This is a difficult course and a good teacher can make all the difference in passing the class.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because I think that Dr Erb presents the difficult material in an easy-to-understand manner.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the principles of organic chemistry, including reaction mechanisms, nomenclature, and synthesis problems.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

I think that making flash cards of the reactions was the most helpful way to succeed in this course (include the reactants on one side and the products on the other)
