    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Gordon Purser is an incredible teacher who asks for focus and dedication from each and every student. His tests went above and beyond what often felt reasonable, but that's why he had such a large curve on the course overall. He set a high ceiling and adjusted it to our capabilities.

    Course highlights:

I learned more in each fifty minute course than I thought possible. He made incredibly dense topics seem much more simple. The true highlight of the course was taking the final that is standardized based on the American Chemical Society because it is much easier than his tests. It gives you an opportunity to show your proficiency on the topics that seemed so hard before.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The most important advice would be to show up to class. Purser is a great teacher if you are willing to listen and take notes in his classroom. Beyond that, despite not grading homework, it is crucial that you give yourself time to do the assignments and work with friends or visit his office hours to check your work.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course mainly because it's required for Pre-med and is a prerequisite for other required chemistry classes.

    Course highlights:

I had to take chemistry sophomore year of high school, but I did not learn much from that class, so the highlight of this course was gaining a better grasp on chemistry because it began at the basics of chemistry and thoroughly taught the fundamentals of the science.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice for this course is to do the practice exams, I believe most chemistry professors provide them, and make sure you understand why things happen, because it will aid you not only in this class, but also when you face more difficult chemistry topics.
