    Term:

    13th Amendment

    Definition:

Constitutional amendment ratified in 1865, which made slavery unconstitutional in the US. This is important because it shows that the objectives of the Civil War changed as the war proceeded so that by the end the objective was to preserve equality for all.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

There was a lot of heavy independent reading in this class but you really do learn a lot. I think this course was my favorite history class I've ever taken.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course was what I learned. I learned more about the discovering of America and the Civil war than I have ever learned before.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

You might be able to get away with not doing the readings but do them anyways because they are worth it and will benefit you in the long run. Listen to what the instructor suggests because he is being 100% honest and his guidance will help you out a lot.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Lectures are extremely interesting; lots of visual aids, personal stories, etc.

    Course highlights:

More than anything I learned to actually enjoy history. It wasn't just a long boring lecture full of names and dates to remember.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You cannot be afraid to read. Show up to class and most should feel a extreme desire to study with detailed material covered in lecture.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend it because Dr. Ruskoski gave a decent amount of homework, but not too much. He provided extra credit opportunities as well as a flexible schedule.

    Course highlights:

I loved the article reviews. Students had the opportunity to pick a topic, read about both sides of an issue, then pick a side.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to work, and learn. You will enjoy what you learn so put some effort in. It will definitely pay off.
