Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Phil is a great teacher, he really knows his material and he's open to working with you on your term papers. Excellent resources and a really great class to cut through all of those studio ones we have to do. It is a reading intensive class, so be prepared for that!

    Course highlights:

There's a lot to be gained from the history of Modernism, not just in the aspect of art at the time, but also literature, which I never really paid much attention to. I'm glad that I did so in this class. The concepts in the readings we were given have a lot of connection to what's going on in society today. So, there's a lot we can learn from the history in the readings.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the readings ahead of time, write what you feel for your reading responses. Do more when you can to offset the later part of the semester! :D

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

The subject matter is interesting, it invites you to think more about the topics and about what you want to discuss with the group. It is mostly reading and response writings in relation to what is read, but, I think the way Phil carries this class, it's a lot more interesting that many people would think.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the different forms of art all around in the 20th century. Granted, we only skimmed the surface. It was a fun class and Phil is a great teacher, he's really good at putting things into a modern day perspective for us.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to read a lot. Don't procrastinate and put your readings off, because it'll only pile up and make things harder for yourself. A lot of times your participation in class counts to make discussions more interesting, so do the reading and responses and you'll sail through with ease.
