Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Definitely recommend for any students planning to major in math or the sciences. This course explores the intrinsic beauty of mathematics that is applied to our real-world phenomena, such as those in physics, biology, or chemistry.

    Course highlights:

This course opens up the world of how to find mathematical models for experiments and natural phenomena. I learned how to develop methods for finding exact solutions for certain kinds of differential equations.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Study the textbook before each lecture, because it will give you a good idea of the material you'll be learning the next day. Needless to say, Differential Equations requires a substantial amount of studying outside the class. In addition, make sure that you know your basic formulas for derivatives and integrals, for they will come in handy when solving the equations!

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

As a mathematics major, I mostly enjoy taking mathematics courses. I really liked calculus and loved to learn about derivatives and integrals. This course focuses on differential equations. I think the most important part of any class is the professor and their quality of teaching. My professor, Victor Ostrik, is simply great! He explains the material very well, making sure everyone understands the lecture. He also has this very strong Russian accent which only gives him more charm. Mr. Ostrik is a very nice person and is always happy to help anyone who struggles with the material. I would definitely recommend taking this class with Victor Ostrik, as he became my favorite professor at this school.

    Course highlights:

I have learned how to solve differential equation of various types: autonomous, first order homogenous, second order homogenous, second order non-homogenous, etc. It was very interesting to come up with solutions and see where it came from.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advise every student to do their homework, even though it might take a while. It is very helpful and covers all the material that will be on quizzes and midterms. Also, try your best to understand each topic, do some studying at home. It is always good to know that you are not behind and understand all the material.
