Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I think it is a great introduction to geology and it gives you information that you will absolutely use in harder classes in the major, as well as in geography and environmental science classes.

    Course highlights:

In all of the geology classes we get to take really cool field trips around Oregon and learn about the surrounding geology. I think this is an amazing part of the course because we get to learn about geology in the real world and see it for ourselves. Oregon is a geological hotspot and the geology classes at UO really take advantage of it by creating unique field trips.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take it! It's a great class that is a gen ed / requirement for many majors, and maybe it will inspire students to become geology majors. It's a great course for incoming freshmen. It's a large, lecture style class around 100 people or more. And every week there is a lab section for smaller groups of students.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It is a great course, but I believe the Professor could take more time to explain specifics to students like myself who find this science a bit overwhelming.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot about the earth and it's layers, especially how they were formed.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to take advantage of the professor's office hours if you are having difficulty understanding the material.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Go to class! iClicker questions are easy points that aren't worth missing out on.

    Course highlights:

This is a great introductory course to geology, which is a subject many of us know little about as it is not a point of focus in most high school curriculum. As someone who is normally terrified of taking science courses, I highly encourage you to take this course. It is not your traditionally type of science and is more about the theory behind the processes and not the calculations (at least at this point).

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

Go to class and get the easy points for the iClicker questions. Make sure to do your homework on time and make friends in your labs so you can work together to ensure you get the best possible grades.
