Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course taught me so much about the issues of relationship violence and neglect. It helped me develop an awareness of these important issues and a desire to make a difference. This class played a large part in helping me choose to focus my studies and career on helping prevent intimate partner violence.

    Course highlights:

This course covered a wide variety of violence and neglect topics: child abuse and neglect, intimate partner violence, and elder abuse were the primary focus. I learned about the dynamics and effects of abuse, as well as, effective prevention programs. My final project was on post intimate partner stalking which allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of this specific issue and gave me the opportunity to design an evidence based prevention program.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Come with an open mind. A lot of the information is contrary to the typical public preception of these issues. For the final project pick a topic you are passionate about and don't procrastinate.
