    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course was difficult, work-heavy, and among the best experiences I've had of my college career so far. The assignments, critiques, weekly sketchbook homework, lecture materials, and individual meetings with the professor were all incredibly useful in helping me fine-tune my design sense and discover my unique voice as an illustrator. It wasn't easy, but I saw more improvement in my artwork over the course of this semester than I ever had before.

    Course highlights:

I learned: how to translate concepts and symbols into compelling, challenging illustrations; how to use the elements of design (especially shape and color) to engage viewers; the discipline of making work even when I think I can't; and I learned a lot about my own sense of creativity and how I best communicate as an artist.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Work hard. Don't get discouraged about your artwork; we've all been there. Don't be afraid to ask questions, and be engaged during critiques.
