    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I would definitely recommend this class no matter what degree your pursuing! It gives you an amazing insight on how humans view the world and of things we are conditioned to do without even realizing it. It also gives you an insight on mind blowing concepts that people have never taken the time to pause and think about.

    Course highlights:

All the videos and movies we were shown were very insightful and beyond fascinating. I learned so many things about race, happiness, white privilege, inhumane prison facts, and a lot about myself too.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

It's important to read the assigned textbook pages before coming to class. It helps you want to engage more in class discussions and it helps you follow along with what's going on in class. It's also crucial to attend class if you really want to get something out of it.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is entirely discussion based. The focus on discourse vs. lecture made the course feel like a conversation, and made students feel actively engaged.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the connection between statistics and sociology.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Write down everything that the professor writes on the board. The tests come DIRECTLY from the notes.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is an online introduction to sociology. It is fairly simple, each week following the same structure. Online, there is a week activity that takes about 20 minutes-1 hour depending on the material and your background knowledge about it. It also requires reading a chapter and taking a chapter test.

    Course highlights:

A lot of this course is focused essentially on vocabulary, but it can be tricky because during the quizzes/exams, words are shifted in order to make you think about the topic in multiple perspectives, rather than just the textbook definition. It will help to have a good grasp on concepts, and ask the instructor about any confusions.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure to look over concepts and be able to understand it from multiple perspectives. Completing both the reading and activities don't take a lot of time, so you have the chance to be thorough instead of rushing to finish. Taking it within your first year is a good idea, since it is a general intro class.
