    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course offers students an insight to their further studies in Biology at Allegheny College. It is a requirement for the Biology Major.

    Course highlights:

The course was an introduction to physiology. We covered subjects such as the Krebs Cycle, Plant Reproduction, Animal Reproduction, and other biological processes.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

It is important to look over your notes after every class. I would highly recommend going to office hours with questions. If its possible, look over the slides before and after class. The readings may seem pointless, but they do contain important information.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course, although challenging, covered a lot of useful information that was necessary for the rest of my biology education. After taking upper level courses, I could see why this was important.

    Course highlights:

A very broad spectrum of biology, from a bit of physiology to climate patterns to ecosystems. No matter what branch of biology you want to pursue, this course will prepare you.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Don't get behind. Read the book even though the readings can be long and most definitely pay attention and take good notes in lecture. Sometimes material that is from lecture but not in the book will be on exams.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is a bit more difficult of a course due to it being set-up as a lecture compared to most courses at Allegheny. Professor Jacobs does well to keep it interesting. She was able to post the powerpoint ahead of time in order for the students to print them out and keep up with the lectures.

    Course highlights:

It is an introduction course so you do learn the basics of Biology. It is a very fast-paced course so I would recommend asking a lot of questions so that you can keep up with the material.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would definitely purchase the book and keep up with the readings. Make sure that you attend all of the classes as well as labs- the labs are where you receive the most participation points and can ask the most questions in order to understand the material.
