    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I think that this course is very educational. It was a challenge, and you have to study throughout the semester as all of the information is based on what you learn in the beginning of the course. The labs are also very effective because they correlate with what you are learning in class. This course is definitely challenging, but as long as you study the slides and notes you will do well. He also has all of the powerpoints linked to voice threads on the internet so you can re-listen to the powerpoints after class. It is a huge help and there are also animations that correlate with each chapter that are a huge help.

    Course highlights:

This course was very thorough! You go very in depth in each unit, and the following unit builds off the previous unit. The final is cumulative so it is very important to keep up with the material throughout the unit. There is a lot of material and you have to understand the material, not just be able to repeat it back. Many of the questions on the exams are applying what you have learned to different situations.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

If you are considering the course make sure that you have the time to spend each week. It is not a class that you can just show up to. All of the work is done outside the classroom, and you can not get behind or you will be lost. It is best to view the lectures before you have them in class to familiarize themselves with them.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a tough class, especially as a hybrid! He's not always clear about what exactly he wants you to know, which can leave you feeling like you need to somehow learn everything.

    Course highlights:

I greatly appreciated the last two modules of the course which focus on microbiology in healthcare. It's easy to apply it to the medical field if that's what you're interested in.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Do the reading, do the quizzes, and show up for every lab—it's the only way to get a good grade in this class if you're not a good test taker.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Microbiology is not a course that interested me; too much information thrown at you about bacteria, protozoa, viruses. However, professor Lifson tried to make class exciting with the labs that reinforced the material learned and amping up this lectures.

    Course highlights:

Like previously talked about, the hightlights were the required labs. They not only provided you with some extra points but reinforced the information Lifson taught. This was a fun way to remember: characteristics of cells by looking at them through the microscope, idenifying bacteria in cultures that we swabbed, watching staphylococcus aureus grow to fully grasp what it actually is.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

STUDY and attend lectures!!! I don't care if you don't have time, you've paid for this class so try to get the most out of it you can! If not you will surely fail.
