    | Would recommend.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course because it covers most of topics in biology without indulging in boring specific details. The professor is informative and entertaining, thus the lectures are not as boring as other classes. There are many chances to pull up your grades, thus it is should not be difficult to pass the classes. This course is a combination of lectures, labs, and recitations. There is not a lot of work, but it is quite fast paced since there are a lot of materials that need to be covered in a short amount of time.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course are basic elements of biology; the topics include basis of life, energy, DNA, Darwinian evolution, ecology, and human systems. There are many topics to be covered, thus the course does not dwell in specific details. You can still learn a lot about biology, but in general sense. This course is not for biology major, but rather for other majors that don’t require extensive amount of biology in their field. This course is more similar to an introduction to biology.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

The key components to succeed in this class are attendance and paying attention. They take attendance rather seriously, thus a majority portion of your grade is mandatory attendance. There is not a lot of work in this class, but it does take up a considerable amount of time each week, because this course consists of lectures, labs, and recitations. The main study materials needed to pass this course are the lecture slides and possibly the textbooks. The lecture slides are based upon the textbooks, but it is not great details like the textbook. The lectures are very fast paced and long, thus it is recommend to review the lecture slides after class. This course covers a lot of materials. Labs are quite easy; you simply do what the instructions said. Recitations review information from lectures and give out quizzes. The quizzes are not in details, but it is highly recommend paying attention in recitations and studying the lecture slides.
