    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This was the absolute hardest course I have ever taken, but it teaches you invaluable information. Students will learn the human body head to toe, skin to bone. I learned self-discipline, time management and gained great confidence in my dissection skills. Every student who has the opportunity should take this class. Work hard, make it through and enjoy the journey.

    Course highlights:

You will gain knowledge of all parts of the human body based upon sectional anatomy. This means that the body is divided into four sections (thorax/abdomen, head/neck, upper extremity/back, lower extremity/pelvis) as opposed to body systems. Through this, you will learn the organs, muscles, muscle facts, nerves, and blood supply of all of this. Also, you will combine this knowledge to work on case studies with medical issues. If the lab component is taken, the students will work on cadavers, dissecting them on their own and identifying all of the structures discussed in lecture.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Make sure that you set aside 3-4 hours each day to the class for review of material and studying. Ensure that you memorize everything and at the end of a section, combine it all for case study analysis to test your skills. The best advice though is to breathe, take time for yourself, and see the value in what you are learning. Optimism is what got me through it!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course to anyone who is seriously interested in the medical field. You will develop a new appreciation and respect of the human body and human life. You will learn everything there is to know about the body and even though the course work is rigorous at the end of the semester you will have retained so much information. Each professor that teaches the course is so enthusiastic. They connect with the students on a different level and understand that this is the toughest class offered at Gannon and is designed to weed out people.

    Course highlights:

As I mentioned above, I developed a new respect for the human body. Not only did I learn too many things to count about the human body but it also helped to understand other classes as well, such as nutrition and even psychology. Highlights include holding different parts of the body. The most eye-opening moment for me was during the study of the brain. Students will be in the lab holding a person's entire life in their hands, when it is just an organ. During the toughest semester, it reassured me that I had chosen the correct career path for me. It was the best class I have ever taken and survived.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Study every single day, from day one. Find a group of friends in the class that you trust and can study with. It helps to talk out all of the information. Teaching others what you know will help solidify information in your brain as well. Spend as much free time as you have studying but remember every once in awhile to take time to relax. Stressing out does not help you retain information. Remember to breathe and appreciate the information you are learning!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is a fantastic class. You learn all parts of the body from head to toe. I learned so much about the human body and feel like I will apply it later in life.

    Course highlights:

The highlights were dissecting human cadavers. You put what you learn into practice when trying to map body parts on an actual human.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Keep up with studying! Keeping on top of the material is tough, but you will be so glad you did it when it comes time to take the test. Give yourself mental breaks, you deserve them.
