Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I absolutely adored this course. Dr. Van Dyke is by far the most inspirational professor I have come across. By taking the time to schedule individual conferences with students, allowing them to write about things they are truly passionate about, and open discussions up to all types of subjects, I have learned much more than just basic writing skills in this Intro to Composition class. Not only did Dr. Van Dyke help me to realize what I was truly passionate about at Lock Haven, but he helped me create intricate plans and set goals with my writing to bring my true passions to life. I am incredibly grateful for his vast knowledge, wisdom, and ever-flowing kindness.

    Course highlights:

I learned an incredible deal about style in writing throughout this course. Although I was already a relatively skilled writer before entering the college setting, Dr. Van Dyke was able to modify the course to fit each individual student's level of skill, making the class a beneficial experience for all involved.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

Work on your writing each night, even if nothing is due in class. Although it seems monotonous and often the professor will not even grade/collect work completed, it will help you immensely come finals week. Because I took the time to hone my writing skill and utilize the one-on-one time with Dr. Van Dyke, I was able to achieve success in this course.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend everyone to take this course because there are so many things that you can learn that you never would really take the time to think about. There is so much that you can learn especially if you keep an open mind towards the lesson.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this course were discussing how gender is presented in society and how we as a whole interpret what’s shown to us on a daily basis. As a class we read mutable books and had to write several papers in order to determine our reasoning.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

My advice would be to always keep an open mind to whatever course you decide to take because you'll be surprised what you'll learn. Also always ask plenty of questions just to make sure you and your professor are on the same page and if you need extra help with the assignments that are given to you, try going to the writing center.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

Dr. Devi is a miraculous professor! You can tell she cares about every student and their success and is happy to answer your questions. She creates a friendly environment that allows you to feel comfortable speaking up in class and giving your opinion with no judgement.

    Course highlights:

The highlight of this course is that you definitely finish the course a better writer than you were in the beginning. You learn how to cite a variety of different sources and how to construct a well written and put together piece of work.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be sure to add a ton of detail in your writing! Dr. Devi loves details. The more the better!
