    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course as it provided an alternative and in-depth way in which to regard the world around us.

    Course highlights:

This semester, our course focused on memory. We were called to think critically regarding the aspects of memory and how it influences the way that we see ourselves and the world around us. I was grateful for the other students in our class, as our group truly made the class experience as enjoyable as it was. I particularly enjoyed how, after the course, I was seeing commonplace scenarios (for example, an episode of Criminal Minds that I've already watched five times) through an entirely different lens.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

This course is difficult, but enlightening. It is okay to feel overwhelmed as long as you understand you are not alone in that feeling. Make friends in the class--you'll find that you're similarities and differences create an interesting atmosphere, and it will help you along. I would recommend setting time aside to very carefully read through any assigned readings, be an active participant in class, and take good notes. Don't be afraid to reach out for help; Dr. Robertson is very willing to help, and is fair, but will hold you accountable.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It gets me thinking! It provides an opportunity to discuss interesting ideas in a non-threatening environment and to learn how to express those ideas.

    Course highlights:

I learned to be disciplined and do the reading so that I could participate in class discussions. I enjoyed being able to write about things that were interesting to me. I learned to listen first before forming my opinion.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Don't wait for the night before a paper is due.
