Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

It is helpful for all musicians to know the basics of music theory. Learning to analyze music or compose your own is helpful and a good way to bring out your creativity and find what kind of musician you are.

    Course highlights:

I've learned how to identify different intervals from a playing of the piano, the rules and steps to follow when creating a melody and base line the work together, how to create certain chords with the help of one note and the major or minor chord that is given, how to analyze music which involves the roman numerals and identifying the inversions of chords within the music, to identify suspensions and all types of cadences, and how to create my own composition overall with the skills mentioned previously.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

There is quite a lot of memorization involved in this course so a great study tip is to keep practicing and using the skills and methods in analyzing other music besides the sheets they give you. For example, printing out sheet music of your own song choice can help you with your analyzing skills and identifying suspensions or the different cadences.
