    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course to any student who is interested in art history. Professor Colleen Bache is a great instructor and taught the class thoroughly. She excelled in keeping the class engaged and made you want to participate. The course was very hands on and offered a lot of great opportunities to get out and see the art work outside of the classroom.

    Course highlights:

I learned about the origins of art and how it has evolved over time. Since taking this course I have acquired an eye for recognizing and appreciating different styles and periods of art that I would usually not take interest in. The class was very educational and opened my eyes to the world of ancient art and history.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best way to study for this class is with flash cards. There are quizzes that are fairly small, but it is very easy to get your dates and time periods confused. The midterm and the final are both very detailed but the flash cards will come in handy. It is important to pay attention to the lectures as well as the chapter information, because the more you know about the origin of the piece, the more it will help you ace your exam or quiz. It is also important to know how to write a visual analysis paper on a particular work of art. There is always more to a piece than meets the eye, and it is important to realize this when trying to make your paper sound less redundant.
