    | Would highly recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This is an essential course to take if you plan on entering any science or health field. It will provide you almost all the chemistry knowledge you need for the rest of your life and Brittan is the best professor to take it with. She is great at explaining every area of the material and ensures that you know how to receive help if needed.

    Course highlights:

In this course you will become highly familiar with carbon structure in all its different forms. You will learn about its presence in carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. You will continue build on your knowledge from Gen Chem.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

You will get out of this class what you put into it. Do the homework, do the practice problems given to you in your skills book. Brittan gives you everything you need to succeed in this class, but it only works if you are constantly drawing structures and studying the material.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The beginning of this course was very hard, you really need to set time aside to study and get a better understanding of the material. Once I started doing that I started getting better grades in this class.

    Course highlights:

Organic chemistry takes A LOT of practice, I can't say there were any highlights but if you have an issue with any topics talked about in class Dr. Yekta is very helpful during her office hours.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

Take the time to study new material every day, do not put things off until the last minute

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

The class was extremely difficult but in the end, proved to be beneficial for my major. It was time consuming and a substantial amount of work was required to pas the class. It was by far the most difficult class I have ever taken however, I passed with a B so it is absolutely manageable.

    Course highlights:

I learned about how molecules come together and break down. I learned how to name certain groups and I learned physical and chemical properties of each functional group. The basic information i retained in this course was used later in my physiology and microbiology courses so it all ties together.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Take notes before class and read the book. Going into lectures with a basic understanding of the material will be a life saver in the end. Don't be afraid to go to her office hours and the academic enhancement center. You most likely will not get through this class alone so aski for help is not a sign of weakeness, it's necessary in being successful in this course.
