Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Offering an abstract and conceptual teaching method allows freshmen students to enter the school with a more creative approach and design process before you have to learn to be pragmatic. It is a really good way to enter into a time demanding major such as architecture

    Course highlights:

Final project for studio l was a pavilion that one must design for events. Certain programs must be implemented in your design and we had an entire open field with a beautiful view of the Bristol Bay in front of us. Not having structural or code restrictions allowed one to be infinitely creative. I learned that all 120 other kids, including myself, had ideas that ranged on the obscurity chart. I learned to push myself more conceptually than what I thought I was capable of.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Do not waste the 9 hours of class a week talking to your friends. Get your work done early so you don't have to pull all nighters.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this class because you are able to develop and create your ideas physically and on the computer. In this course you can also share ideas with your peers as if you are in a firm.

    Course highlights:

In this course I learned that even though you are working by yourself, getting ideas from others can always help you in improving the idea you have.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

If you do consider this course make sure that you manage your time well and have a slight background on architecture.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend taking this course with Karen. She helps her students to think independently about their designs but still give suggestions on how to approve upon your projects.

    Course highlights:

I learned to think outside of the box and take risks. It is a lot of work but you learn so much to help you continue on to the next studios

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

But time and effort into this course, it is worth it in the long run.
