    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

The class's material was extremely interesting, and MBO always presented the information in an engaging way that kept the class's attention. There's not a whole lot of work that needs to be done outside of class, and the exams are very straight forward.

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this class were learning about the effects that new forms of media have on our every day life in ways that aren't normally thought too much about. There's also a focus of the psychology behind our attachment to media and our response to it that was very interesting to learn about.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would tell students that are considering taking this class that they should and they just need to be prepared to attend lectures in order to do well. MBO does use clickers to award points for attendance, which can considerably help or hurt your grade. In terms of exams, paying attention to her lectures helps a lot. She also provides a study guide, and the material on the exams stays very true to that. My best studying tip is to look over your notes from class for each section listed on the study guide and make sure you know that material well. There are a few questions on each exam that come from the book, but not that many.

    Pretty easy, overall.

    Course Overview:

If you're looking for an interesting topic AND a very enthusiastic professor, COMM 118 is definitely the class to take!

    Course highlights:

I have had a knack for media effects for years, so taking this class only added to my knowledge base. It was in a big lecture classroom; however, the professor made it so interactive and fun at the same time. Her personality was the highlight of the course; she really knew her material, and she loved spreading the knowledge! I learned how mass media use tactics to influence the masses to perform certain behaviors.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Advice about this course? Please take it with MBO--please!! She is easily one of my favorite professors, and if you're looking to actually be educated and not taught, her class is the way to go!
